The computer screen on which you see these words do not serve that purpose alone. There is a far greater and nobler one. It serves as a portal; to a new world where imagination can run free, where there can be no restrictions on knowledge. In many ways it is the perfect utopia.

Yet there remains thousands upon thousand who cannot access its marvels. On the 20th of November, we came one step closer to bridging this gap.

Intel, in association with MAD, decided to reach out to the kids of St. Mary’s Orphanage and together began what is now dubbed as the ‘Computer Project’. This week, MAD unveiled the project to the students of St Mary’s.

The auditorium was filled with whispers of astonishment and awe.  The applications of flipbook animation seemed to be most appreciated.

When asked of the various applications of the computers, the volunteers were startled by the varieties of answers they received. Indeed it served to motivate them further.

What seemed to excite the kids also was chatting with ex-Madsters via the internet. They seemed convinced and raring to go.
