Starbucks YouthActioNet grant for MAD

Make A Difference is among 19 youth-led programs in 15 countries selected by Starbucks and the International Youth Foundation (IYF) to receive support through the Starbucks Youth Action Grants program.

The grantees were chosen through a competition established by IYF and Starbucks in 2008 in order to makes grants available to young leaders who have completed IYF’s YouthActionNet® fellowship program.  The size of grants awarded through the program range from US$9,000-$10,000. A committee comprised of IYF staff and Starbucks partners (employees) selected the final grant recipients.

“Today’s global movement of youth leading change represents an enormous resource for solving serious social and environmental challenges,” said IYF President and CEO William S. Reese. “Starbucks investment has been invaluable to these young leaders – enabling them to scale up their impact, increase their visibility, attract new partners, and influence policies.”

“We offer our hearty congratulations to the recipients of this year’s Youth Action Grants,” said Rodney Hines, Starbucks Director of Community Investments. “IYF’s Fellows are powerful role models for their peers and others – creating ripples of change in communities around the globe.”

We, here at Make A Difference, are happy and excited thanks to this development, and would like to thank Starbucks and YouthActioNet for the incredible opportunity that they’ve provided us with.
