Aim for the stars, u’ll end up atleast in treetops!!!

Hi All,

This is an incident that took place in my class a few weeks ago. When i was alloted four students, to be handled alone, i thought i’ll start with getting to know them better… For that i distributed papers tat had fields like Name, Age, Class, Ambition, What do u expect from me etc…

I dint expect the kids to take it so seriously. But i was surprised to see their reaction. Each one of them took the papers and separated out from the rest of the group. They filled it up alone, occasionally asking me supply of English words. They put their heart and soul into it. I dint discuss the sheets in class, as they considered it very personal. But i went home and had a look at it… I was more or the less surprised…

Most of the kids there had high dreams, some of them quite unrealistic like the President of India. But  instead of bringing them back to reality, i thought i would encourage them…

The next class i collected information about the various careers they wanted to choose and told them the details. They were starving for information, this is wat i cud make out from their reaction. That class i cud make out tat they missed the world outside. They wanted to go out, explore and be society kids, not trapped in the four walls of the orphanage….

I asked them to read the newspaper once in a while. But practically it seemed impossible.. There was just one newspaper for the whole orphange… and we cant go tell the authorities to buy 10 papers….!!!

They were quite fascinated by the events that i told them about, The International Book Fair, The Volvo Ocean Race, The Mumbai blast etc….

And now i can proudly say that i have 4 kids in my orphanage, 4 highly ambitious kids, out of which i expect 2 teachers, 1 doctor and An Indian President!!!

Funny it may seem, but they are quite serious about it….

Lets all pray for them, practical or not, hope they achieve their dreams and not get struck in the clutches of poverty and ill-fate…

Thanking You,

Your Sincerely,

Anupama

awesome!what strikes me most is their enthusiasm.if someone wud’ve asked me what i wanted to be, i wud’ve opted being a rich fat millionare doing nothing, but these kids take lyf seriously and we shoul encourage them in every way possible.
by the way bout the newspaper scenario, we can work something out.like when i was at school we all used to get the Hindu for a meagre rate of 300 per year+a personality development class.
    great going :)
