The holiest of all ;) ,
NATASHA: The orphanage head. The girl with a very warm smile, which is pleasingly welcoming to every new volunteer(atleast to me it was :) ).Very responsible . And yeah, she has a plausible way of putting forward things and getting them done (we text her every Friday with a few exceptions of course :) ) I’ll tell you, she has a very controlled temper.
RIZWANA: “One of the senior-most volunteers of the convent” as quoted by Natasha today. :) She devotes the most amount of time into preparation for a class among all of us,making her class one of the most interesting to the kids and hard for the volunteers who substitute for her :) The worst of days, the grumpiest of moods or in the worst of health,it doesn’t matter, she’ll be there. Often I see her with an unhandleable pile of encyclopedias and books of the kind that out of fear of her falling over, I go out to help her. Not to forget all the adoration she gets from her kids. Today, she had them screaming out of joy on seeing her at her unexpected entry.
FEBIN: The girl who makes our journey to the convent easy n cherishable by driving us in her car every Sunday (a big thanx from all of us) Through thick and thin shes stood by The Holy Ghost, shes the only one who has seen it transform from a marooned, unknown convent under MAD to one of the most active one(yea v r finally having a camp!! :) ). The girls love her accent n look forward to havin one like hers. :) She is quantums of energy, trust me. (i hope all dis makes up for the torture u go thru in da car ;) )
DIANA: The Perumbavoor girl with an unusual dislike for light!! She likes to have the windows closed in class. An intern for a long time now, n hopefully a volunteer soon :)
ANNAPOORNI: The final sem MEC student, an old MAD member and a new volunteer in the convent who has mesmerized the kids wid her nightingal-ish voice, the only singer in the group i guess :). Class handling comes naturally to her. A mature and much-needed volunteer at the convent.
RESHMI: She is sleepy n yawning wen outside the class but once shes in, shes right ther, doin her work n gettin the girls do wat is expected from them. Oh n once she steps out she goes bak into the slumber mood. In the beginning, shes always had to rush aftr the class to eithr attend a family function or attend to the guests at home. Shes the only reason i dont feel too small amng the othrs aftr anamika left :) Febin’s car induces in her n me some peculiar behaviour like whistling, singing the lyrics b4 the song etc. Hehe.
PRATIBHA: The newbie who had her first class in the convent today. Hope u stay on!! :)
HARSHA: Thats me, A second year engg student in FISAT with 5 months of experience in MAD. Life couldnt have been good if not for the kids i teach or the friends i made here. I wouldve been just another sad, college going girl with nothing much in life other than da teenage craziness and innumerable submissions n assignments in college. It doesnt mean ive stopped cribbing and cryin, bt i knw ive come a long way over the months. :)
Our work in the convent is just once in a week for two hours, those two hours we forget all our worries, we keep aside the rest of the world for them, we try to foster confidence in them to speak english…do dat tad bit of work dat will lead them to a good future…
