The girls from Joachim’s were taken to a dance workshop organized by Rashmi, in association with the Thripoonithura Sangeetha Sabha, last week, to give them an exposure to the world of dance. The renowned dancer Priyadarshini Govind was the performer of the day.
Before all the dancing began, all of us were well informed about the finer points of Bharatnatyam – what are the different ways in which it can be performed and how the rythm and the lyrics unite in perfect synchrony to provide a remarkable visual and musical treat to …

MAD Cochin held an assessment test for the kids at all centres over the last couple of weeks. It was a baseline test which was held to see how much of English the kids already knew (as suggested by EzVidya who comes up with our syllabus).
If examinations can be nerve wracking for the students, it can be quite the same for the teachers as well – or so I found out. We were not just testing the kids, we were also being tested ourselves. Though I was initially supposed to …

Over the last few classes, I have been trying to understand our new syllabus, and make the required changes to it to make it work for the kids that I am taking classes for. I will share my experiences and try and explain my interpretation of the syllabus, which could have gone wrong at places. Hopefully we can discuss and find out how better we can tweak the syllabus to suit all of our specific needs.
Basically, there are kids with different kinds of intelligences – kinesthetic, inter-personal, logical, verbal, visual, …

As a writer, how do you describe the same place and the same set of events a second time without boring your readers? The kids from Pallu Big Boys, St. Joachims and Holy Ghost were taken on a field trip to CUSAT C-SiS on Saturday (27th June), and I was given the arduous task of blogging about it. If you don’t know what CUSAT C-SiS means, then you obviously haven’t read Harsha’s post last week (which left me with nothing much to write about).
For most people, …

The Pallu Big Boys ice-breaker happened last Sunday. I had only heard about the big boys at Pallu. And not everything that I had heard was very flattering. So, it was with a certain amount of trepidation and a considerable amount of anxiety that I walked into Pallu with the other volunteers (Jithin Sr, Xavier, Jonva and Rajesh). I needn’t have worried. The icebreaker was wonderful, the kids were great!
After Jithin Sr finished with one of his customary speeches, there was a placement presentation to let the kids know …

When I joined MAD a couple of months ago, I really didn’t know what to expect. What happened to me in the interview was most definitely something I did NOT expect. I felt like the little lamb who had walked into a dark room only to realize that it was a lion’s den, and that there were not one, but two lionesses waiting with bared teeth (pretty sharp ones at that).
After scraping through the interview, just when you start thinking that things can’t get much worse, Murphy and his damned …
