Siragugal’09-When Bhumi spread colour,joy and more!

Siragugal 2009 was a one day Art, cultural Fest held on 15 Nov, 2009. 796 children from classes 1-12 of 26 orphanages in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur Districts participated. The event consisted of 16 different competitions for three age categories, a science exhibition competition, fun events including a magic show and a theatre workshop for the children.Siragugal'09

M.A.D Core Team 2010-2011
India’s fastest growing youth volunteer network, with over 800 volunteer teachers teaching across 10 cities, is on the lookout for its New Core team for 2010-2011. The national core team shall conduct Elections and interviews in all its cities to choose the new breed of MAD Managers.

The chosen few will be invited to the prestigious MAD National Conference where the best would be elected to lead MAD nationally and would be inducted into the National Core team.

Whenever someone asks me what we do in MAD, I always say ‘We Educate’. And I have always believed in this. A lot of people can teach but we strive to make a difference. Why am I saying this suddenly?

Today, class was going to be a little different. The girls weren’t paying attention and their interests were fading, so me and Devyani decided to have a heart to heart session with them. We would not be teaching anything in class today, we were just going to talk. Encourage, motivated.

Do we know the significance of 26th November? It was the day when the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India in 1949. Of course, the Mumbai attacks gave 26/11 a whole new dimension. Saeunn is from Iceland on vacation in India. She has worked with the Red Cross and many NGOs there. She is on the Youth Council  of UNICEF in Iceland. She has been working with various NGOs during her stay here.
