MAD M’lore is raring to go…
… and finally we dive in full fledged! It’s a day before the much awaited Recruitment Drive and in Mangalore, we are eager for tomorrow to begin. It’s taken us weeks of running around, getting ends to meet, roping in sponsors, and trying to keep Rakesh The President from suffering a nervous breakdown (Every. Single. Day.)!
In the past couple of weeks, we finalized 3 child homes around the city… Balika Ashrama, Infant Mary Girls Home, and St. Aloysius Boys Home. Brochures were delivered to the corporates, the fliers were distributed to the masses, and our posters look back at us from all the malls and popular youth joints. The core team also went around to all major institutions and colleges in the city giving presentations to students. I’m glad to say it has resulted in many enthusiastic voices who assured to get their friends along to MAD too
we’re expecting 150 plus people to definitely turn up, and hoping for an unexpected many more…
The main team of volunteers, sitting in on our last meeting today before the Rec Drive, had the air thick in anticipation. But we’ve been fortunate to have Ramu from the Cochin team join us and relieve us of some stress. He’s got all us convinced that interviewing is equivalent to college ragging and hence, we shall all have a great deal of fun at the RecDrive tomorrow!
He’s ironed out the loopholes, bought to light some new recruitment insights and helped us prep up quite well. Thank you Ramu! Your presence with us has given us a lot of surety that the MADness has only just begun. (pssst..and btw, you’re not as old as you think)
Oh, and we all got our MAD t-shirts too! We were quite excited to have it with us (FINALLY!) and so we had a ceremonious “Unveiling Of the Tee” to end this last meeting. We’re all eager to flash it at the drive tomorrow
Rakesh is still battling his minor heart attacks and I assume it will continue till the Rec Drive is finally over with (after that is when the MAJOR attacks start)
but ah well, our ThunderMan‘s got great responsibility. On behalf of him, I relay the Presidents message: We’ve got Mangalore under control (inspite of the many palpitations beneath) and there’s an open invitation to all to drop by the Roshni Nilaya Auditorium from 10 AM – 1 PM. Be there!
It seems like a long time ago when Rakesh, Kirti and I got together with the Recruitment drive still a distant dream. The entire core volunteer team has worked quite hard to finally say, here we are. Our last Rec Drive meeting done, the logistics ready, and the wait for 10 AM tomorrow ensues…
Wish us luck!

(Told you Rakesh was losing it!)
