MAD Cochin Farewell :)

Sunday April 22nd, Loungevity Avenue Regent..

8:00 am : Jr.is supposed to arrive.

8:10 am : Jr. arrives… And, invariably, waits…. :(

8:45 am : Prez and Sanju arrive.. And after, shamelessly arriving late, they make the poor volunteers, tired from waiting do all the work.. :(

9:30 am : The preperations are done.. And the volunteers start trickling in slowly..

I was’nt looking at my watch after that, so let’s forget the timelines for now.. As is custom, the Mad video is unrolled first.. We take a look back at one of the greatest years ever.. For Mad, as well as most volunteers.. ( I speak for myself anyhow ! ) :)

Eight are leaving this time around, including the legendary Holy Ghost Trio and the Diving Wierd Photographer Man(who expressly forbid me from putting these unedited version of the pics on the blog)…

But, as Jithin likes to say.. “You might leave, but MAD never leaves you..” :)

Time to move on to the annual tradition of the Make A Difference Youth Leader Awards… Every year, six people are nominated from within the ranks, for the potential and leadership that they highlighted during the year.. (I’m tired of uploading pics, so you’ll have to do with just a couple.. :) ) The first one is given to the orphanage head of the orphanage that won this years MadComps.. And the HG girls ran away with it.. (will get you next year) :D

Sanju : He had other engagements..

Volunteer : Oh ok…Went to play tennis, huh??

Sanju : Actually, he had only one engagement.. After all, he’s getting married only once.. :)

(Inference for all volunteers : Yes, please go ahead and ask for treats if you see Mr. Vingman around)

Though, the BEST MOMENT of the day was the standing ovation that Sr., the outgoing President, got..

The best President and mentor any of us could’ve ever asked for…. As he’d have put it : “Great job, bro.. Good repository… ” :P

Ok, that was senti enough.. (sigh) :)

Final note :

I had a college farewell, where, inexplicably i felt a tinge of sadness… Seemed there were too many good memories that I was leaving behind… But the Mad Farewell was different.. Yes, we’re bidding this year goodbye.. But, the next year already beckons..

At Mad, the year never ends.. It just merges into the next one.. Looking forward to all that 09-10 promises to bring to all our doorsteps..

    The making it part is taken care of.. The presents part, we'll all try and work on.. :P

    And, no(sigh), he didn't cry.. He just got off the stage pretty quick.. :D And, Julie is still Julie, she doesn't bite unless it's got food written all over it.. :D

    a) I got admission for my MBA at the prestigious Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi:)

    b) am gettin married on the 10th of may...reception's gonna be in cochin on 17th at TDM hall..are all formally n informally invited:)..plz do make it with gifts:)

    MAD is growing and with all the expansion plans,its surely gona rock the Nation & inshallah evn internationally and in coming yrs old volunteers will leave and new ones will join MAD.bt i am sure wen they get2gether they will talk abt the legendary tales of Tall guy(@ JR i mean the Sr Jithin ;) ).seriously imagining MAD without Sr is gona be really hard.i still remember the time when i joined MAD,i was like he is the PREZ ,i mn he was jumping all the time during the meeting yaar,but its gona be hard to forget this guy,his funny comments ,ya sumtimes he can get into ur nerves but the best part u cant remain angry with him probably more than 5 mins..this last one yr he has driving me crazy by asking me Riz y are they(few volunteers) not attending d training and it went on few times,but i nvr saw him loosing his patience esp me being so excel savvy :),getting his attention was easy esp wen i told himi would wring his neck if he didnt call me(ya now u knw i am good at threatening ),there have been moments wen i felt like y the hell he always have to be so diplomatic and act the good cop but now wen i see it i think tht was his plus point ,he nvr hurt any volunteer and thts y there was no much dishum dishum in MAD and thts nt a easy job.and ya hw can i forget he cares abt his volunteers so much tht he dreams abt managing their wedding reception ;) he he,So Mr PREZ(ya let me address u like tht )u may say tht ur emotions hv dried out due to prolonged exposure to MAD i will say to tht Bull_ _ _ _,we all hrd tht crack in ur voice and v knw its seriously hard for you to leave MAD and frankly for all MAD volunteers it will be hard for us nt having u arnd(ya hrd the silver lining frm sanj tht u will be arnd torturing her and nt completely leaving us) and ya i am gona stop or u will blame me again it was my pleasure to knw u and ya i am sure yrs and yrs later the story line will be ONCE UPON A TIME IN MAD ther was this legend .... :)

    @jithin(sr.) you totally deserved that standing ovation u received and we all noted that ur voice cracked after that and i was surprised to see that u( of all ppl) became speechless!!!...u are an excellent leader and I'm sure that u have bigger things in store for u in the future

    Gr8 post junior! Was cracking up at the pic where Vivek is munching on a chocolate, hi hi. And u put it rightly bro, this farewell was different from the ones I have been to, it was less of a teary bidding and more of an optimistic welcoming of the year ahead. :D And yes my favorite moment was the standing ovation, it was quite emotional :) Can't think of enough words to describe him. You totally rock Jithin :D

    I haven't been here more than 4 months but I'm sensing Sanjana has some huge shoes to fill...!!n thats not just cuz this guy has big feet...he's a helluva leader....!!got MAD till here....always there no matter what you need done at any of the orphanages.He truly deserved the standing ovation that he received.And no matter how much you deny it Jithin C. Nedumala,we all heard the way your voice cracked after that!!
