THE MAD RULE BOOK
GROUND RULES

A class is never missed in MAD
-
There will be 56 English classes in MAD every year
-
Volunteers must acknowledge and respond to all communications within 24 hours.
-
No one takes leave without substitution. Interns and volunteers must find their own substitutes if they miss a class. A volunteer must arrange another volunteer as substitute.

Each volunteer has 3 credits at the beginning of the year. A credit is reduced for each day of class missed. CLASS CAN ONLY BE MISSED WITH SUBSTITUTION!! Credit workings:

3 credits: Great!
-
2 credits: Substitute whenever possible and make up.
-
1 credit: Emergency! Substitute whenever and wherever asked!!
-
0 credits: The volunteer will be asked to leave.

Interns must attend 4 consecutive classes before they can become a volunteer. They will be eligible for the MAD certificate one year after becoming a volunteer.
-
The batch head must be informed of attendance or substitution at least 2 days in advance
-
All volunteers must attend the TTF training or the refresher course when scheduled.
-
All volunteers must attend the compulsory second Saturday training sessions
-
A volunteer must stop taking class if he / she has missed more than two consecutive training sessions
-
All volunteers join as interns and will become members on completion of the orientation process (given in detail below). Members will be given a membership card and will be eligible for the MAD experience certificate.

A volunteer can additionally choose to be member of a bunch. If he / she do, active contribution will be expected.
Roles & Responsibilities:
VOLUNTEER:
-
Be regular and committed.
-
Inform batch head about your class status 48 hours before the class.
-
Prepare for class at least two days in advance and bring log sheet to class.
-
Reach the orphanage at least 10 minutes before scheduled time
-
Maintain student’s attendance and inform batch head if any child is repeatedly absent.
-
Attend all compulsory training meetings.
-
If a bunch member, attend all compulsory bunch meetings.
-
Confirm attendance to batch head for monthly training meetings and other meetings
-
When unable to attend class, arrange for substitute and inform batch head in advance. Provide substitute with log sheet to take class.
-
File Log sheet in the orphanage LOG Sheet file after every class.
-
Put your Orkut feedbacks within 48 hours of the class.
BATCH HEAD:
-
Ensure attendance of children during your batch.
-
Ensure volunteer regularity. Should have confirmed attendance / substitution at least two days before class. If not informed in advance, or after confirmation volunteers are not present, warn the volunteer. If problem recurs, inform orphanage head to take action.

Update batch attendance within 24 hrs
-
Ensure Orkut feedback within 42 hrs
-
Ensure log sheets are maintained at the orphanage.
-
Assist HR & Invigilating bunch for promoting Interns to Volunteers.
-
Confirm meeting attendance of volunteers to orphanage head 3 days before compulsory monthly training meetings.
-
Reschedule classes when they cannot be held on a particular day.
-
Ensure the minimum 56 classes are conducted in your orphanage
-
When the batch head is absent, substitute will be acting Batch head.
ORPHANAGE HEAD:
-
Be the contact point for that orphanage
-
Ensure maintenance of orphanage resources including computers, library, notebooks etc. Must periodically check computers and inform any issues immediately to VP Computers for action.

Ensure maintenance of log sheets, attendance, feedback
-
Ensure that the children are attending classes regularly
-
Handle issues relating to the orphanages – volunteer issues, volunteer irregularities, new volunteer requirements–immediately report to HR.
-
If any classes are missed, ensure the batch heads reschedule them.
-
Confirm meeting attendance of volunteers to HR two days before scheduled meeting.
-
During long holidays and exams for students, discuss with orphanage authorities and decide on the start and stop days of the classes and let the volunteers know.

Every intern must go through the one day training session: process (syllabus ) , basic rules and orientation.

Every intern must submit a filled bio data and two passport size photos: for membership card and records.
